Germany’s greenhouse gas quota has obliged fuel suppliers to cut the emissions of the fuels they place on the market since 2015. Biomethane and bio-LNG have been an efficient way to meet it: certified, grid-delivered, and — for waste-based feedstocks — double-counted.
The RED III transposition reshapes that arithmetic. Quota levels, eligible feedstocks and the multipliers attached to them are all being revised, and positions built on the current rules will not all survive the change intact.
Which makes this a planning question rather than a procurement one. Contracts signed today will be delivering under the new regime, so the feedstock and certification route you choose now determines what your volumes are worth then.
bGX follows the reform closely and structures supply that stays quota-eligible through it.
