Biomethane market, Producers

When BASF and ENGIE signed 0.31 bcm over seven years in 2024, it wasn’t a hedging decision. It was a construction decision. Long-term offtake is what allows a plant to be financed and built.

That is the part buyers tend to discover late. Spot biomethane exists, but the volume behind it is limited to what is already running. Every new unit of capacity needs a contract signed before the ground is broken — which means the buyers securing supply for 2030 are signing now.

A Biomethane Purchase Agreement typically runs two to fifteen years and does two jobs at once: it gives the producer bankable revenue, and it gives the buyer a known price and a known certificate quality for the length of a compliance horizon.

bGX structures BPAs across Europe, matching producers and buyers on duration, certification and delivery route.
